On the third day of your trip, your guide will pick you up from your hotel to begin your Old Cairo. The first stop will be the Salah El Din Citadel, which is an ancient Islamic fortress in Cairo. This castle is located near the center of Cairo, Mokattam Hill, which offers stunning views of the city and was once known for its refreshing breeze.
After lunch, you'll visit the nearby Al-Rifa'i Mosque, which is located close to Cairo Castle. The mosque-madrassa was built during the Mamluk Islamic period, complementing the earlier one Sultan Hassan built in 1361.
You'll also explore the El Sultan Hassan Complex, which is a massive mosque and madrassa in Cairo's Old City. This mosque was built during the Mamluk Islamic era, and the mosque was known for its enormous size and cutting-edge architectural features. According to Al-Maqrizi, the mosque was home to various "wonders of construction," and it was given the blessing of the mediocre and transient monarch, an-Nasir.
After the tour, you'll return to your hotel to relax.
